The opening ceremony for the Shonai-Yuza Solar Power Plant, which started commercial operation in January 2019, was held on site hosted by the Seikatsu Club Consumers' Co-operative Union.

In addition, a joint declaration for the creation of the "Shonai-Yuza Solar Power Fund (tentative name)" was made, and the heads of the local government, power generation companies, producers, and consumers held an agreement signing ceremony. This fund is established in order to create a circular economic system where the profits from solar power plant projects will be returned to the community to be used to start up new businesses in Shonai area. The signing of this agreement is a new step towards the sustainability in the region.
